Bald Eagle Fishing
Haliaeetus leucocephalus

Wallpaper Description

The national symbol of the US, this powerful fish eating eagle once was threatened with extinction in the 1960's due to common use of the pesticide DDT. Since DDT was banned and the bald eagle has been placed under federal protection, its numbers have increased to 70,000. But since they live and feed on lakes and rivers, they often get lead poisoning from lead jigs and sinkers. If you fish, help our eagles live better lives and look for non-toxic fishing gear that uses tin or alloys.
