When they are grown, these owls will silently glide through the woods at night in search of food. They hunt from dawn until dusk sitting on a perch, waiting for something they want to eat to come near, at which time they jump off and snatch it. Eastern screech owls eat many different things - from earthworms and katydids to rodents and birds. While Eastern screech owls are able to adapt to living near humans, it is very important that they are able to find a good place to build their nest, and cavities in trees are a favorite spot.
