Emerald Starling

Due to unrest in its savannah homelands, not much is known about the wild populations of this stunning West African small starling. As a result, there is some fear that although this bird may seem commonplace, that due to both unrest and its popularity in a huge caged bird trade in the Cote d'Ivoire, this gorgeous bird may well have a future which is less than brilliant. What we do know is that like other wild starlings, they are very social and fly to roost together for the night.
