Western Woodhouse Toad

Feeding on earthworms and insects, the Western Woodhouse Toad has become a friend to farmers throughout the central United States. This toad will often eat small invertebrates that can damage farm crops, acting as a natural defense for crops. However, by living in close proximity to farms, the Western Woodhouse Toad also ingests harmful pesticides sprayed on non-organically grown crops. Less toxic pesticides or organic farming practices would be of great benefit to this most helpful amphibian, and buying organic produce is a great way to start helping!
