A popular pet, sun conures or sun parakeets are not afraid to let you know when they want something…like attention…and this call may greet you repeatedly until you give them what they want! Highly social, wild flocks in South America will frequently consist of 20-30 individuals, and this same sociability is true in captivity. Your pet conure will greatly appreciate an appropriate friend! Although widely bred in captivity, the illegal trade in wild birds for the pet market is large, and so there is a possibility of them reaching the endangered species list shortly.
