Raccoon
Procyon lotor

Description
With their black masks, ringed bushy tails and the tendency to wash their food, the Raccoon is unmistakable. These nocturnal creatures are often found near water and are real opportunists - Raccoons will feed on just about anything. Since they are curious and intelligent, people are divided on how they feel about having them around the yard. If you want Raccoons around, feed them in multiple locations away from your house, since as they recognize your home as a source for food they may become aggressive. Rabies may also be a concern with some Raccoons, so keep cats and dogs inside and try not to leave out extra food overnight if you don't want Raccoons moving in. Raccoon pelts were made popular in the 1920s but are now often used as substitutes for mink, otter or seal fur.
