Cercopithecus mona
Description
Look up in the forest if you want to see this social and active monkey. Mostly active at dawn and dusk, this relatively secretive primate inhabits the jungles of Africa. During the years of slave trade, mona monkeys were introduced to Grenada where there has been a small wild population. In the wild they live in small troops with one male and several females, and may live to 30 years of age. They eat fruit, shoot and insects and often raid crops in Africa as they are losing their normal habitat and need to find food wherever they can.
