Camelus dromedarius
Description
This little camel is one of an extinct wild species, now only found as domesticated beasts of burden. She would likely have been born into a flock led by a male with several females and would have been able to walk after only a few hours after birth. Camels are perfectly suited for desert life with webbed feet to keep from sinking into the sand, nostrils which close and two rows of eyelashes to keep sand out of their eyes in storms. They can live 17 days without water and are one of the few animals who move both legs on one side of their body at the same time.
