The smallest and most populous of Antarctica's penguins, Adelies are just over 2 feet tall. They breed on rocky beaches, building pebble nests which they jealously guard as other penguins in the huge breeding colony steal them! They are strong swimmers - a skill they need to escape their predator the leopard seal - and they can dive over 500 feet in search of krill which is their main food.
