These solitary great apes live in the rainforests of Borneo and Sumatra and are now endangered due to habitat loss by logging and burning for crops. This adult male may weigh over 250 pounds, and would make a nest in a tree to sleep at night. Orangutans are a keystone species as they are important to the regeneration of plants in the forest.
