One of the most familiar American butterflies, monarchs are found in North and South America. They are the only butterflies that migrate, however each butterfly makes the journey one way - his or her offspring fly the other part of the route. Despite many hardships along the way, destruction of their roosting sites at both ends of their journey and everywhere between is one of the biggest challenges monarch's face today.
