Cougar
Felis concolor

Known as "ghost cats", this elusive cougar would have learned everything he needed to survive as a predator from his mother. Female cougars are almost never without cubs. And since it is legal to hunt them in 13 of the 15 states in which they are found in the US, there are many cubs which are left each year without their teacher and protector. Cougars can leap both vertically and horizontally, and when you look at their paw prints, you won't see any claws. Look for them in the western parts of North America and throughout South America.
